(1) Relevant prior and part-time employment, with dates:
- Cook County Adult Probation Department since 1 July 1985. While with
the Probation Department I served as a felony courtroom officer and ensured
adherence to court issued mandates.
- President of Gang Prevention Incorporated since 1994.
- Conducted pre-trial and pre-sentence investigations, investigating
criminal and social histories of defendants, reporting findings in written
summary in court.
- Was assigned to the IPS (Intensive Probation Supervision) unit
completing eligibility investigations to evaluate the rehabilitation potential
of high-risk offenders and made recommendations to judges regarding their
fitness to enter the program.
- Developed supervision plans requiring five face to face contacts per
week, and conducted motor vehicle and residence searches.
- Worked with the Gang Intervention Unit since its conception. Appeared
in court as needed providing expert witness testimony concerning gang identification,
awareness, activity, and prevention.
- Formerly in charge of a caseload of offenders who were all identified
as gang members from the entire County of Cook.
- Worked directly with Chicago Police Department Gang Tactical Officers
in the 11th (Harrison) district.
- Formerly assigned as the dpeartment's Field Services Training Specialist
for all weapons carrying officers. Was responsible for arraigning and conducting
training for all weapons carrying officers. Training conducted included
annual firearms requalification, ongoing firearms training, remedial firearms
training, pre-services and in-service control tactics, and pre-service
and in-service street gangs.
- Served as President of Gang Prevention Incorporated since 1994. This
is a law enforcement training company, but also provides training for educational
institutions and the private sector. Areas of instruction include firearms,
self-defense, and street gangs. Consulting and or express witness testimony
can be provided for any of the topic areas listed.
