Special and Part-Time Employment

     Illinois Labor Board rules that city must bargain with union before using auxiliary officers to reduce overtime or replace full-time officers. Vil. of Westchester v. Ill. F.O.P., 7 PERI 2028, 7 (2) ISLRB Bull. 4 (Ill. SLRB 1991). [1992 FP 28]
     Reserve officers entitled to pay while attending training courses. City of Scranton v. Auriema, 506 A.2d 489 (Pa. Cmwlth. 1986).
     City could augment transit police with unarmed auxiliary police officers in subway patrol. Patrolmen's Benevolent Assn. v. Koch, 450 N.Y.S.2d 137 (Misc. 1982).
     New Jersey Supreme Court upholds right of cities to appoint special officers to periodically supplement regular force. Borough of Belmar PBA v. Borough of Belmar, 89 N.J. 255, 445 A.2d 133 (1982).
     Federal appeals court sets aside decision that housing police must be paid same salary as city officers. Members of Bridgeport Housing Auth. Police v. City of Bridgeport, 646 F.2d 55 (2nd Cir. 1981).
