About the author

Lou Reiter was an active member of the Los Angeles Police Dept. for 20 years and held all ranks from patrol officer to Deputy Chief of Police - serving in over 20 different positions. He served as an investigator and field supervisor with Internal Affair and as the Advocate - presenting the LAPD's positions during administrative disciplinary hearing boards. He also has served as an employee defense representative and has sat as a member of hearing boards. Since his retirement, he has conducted internal audits and liability assessments of police and sheriff agencies, and is a designated assessor for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

He has been retained as a litigation consultant in about a thousand police civil litigation matters in nearly every state. Lou is the presenter at PATCs seminar on Internal Affairs, Managing Citizen Complaints and Employee Discipline.
